Southbound Route 837 East Carson Street Ramp Closure begins Friday in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh – PennDOT District 11 is announcing a closure of a southbound Route 837 (East Carson Street) ramp in the Glenwood interchange in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will begin on Friday, March 18 weather permitting.
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, a long-term closure of the southbound Route 837 ramp that carries traffic to southbound 837 and northbound 885 (Homestead/Glenwood Bridge) will close to traffic long-term. Southbound Route 837 traffic will be detoured.

- From southbound Route 837 (East Carson Street), motorists must use the southbound 885 Glass Run Road/Mifflin Road ramp
- Bear left onto the Glass Run Road ramp
- At the stop sign turn left onto Glass Run Road
- At the traffic light, turn left onto northbound Route 885 (Mifflin Road)
- Follow Route 885 northbound to the new temporary intersection of Route 885 and Route 837
- End detour
Due to necessary structure repairs, the ramp will be closed to traffic around-the-clock through mid-June. This work is part of the $16.9 million Glenwood Interchange Phase 3 project. Crews from J. F. Shea Construction, Inc., will conduct deck replacement work on Route 837 and associated ramps, as well as, pier cap repairs, lighting upgrades, safety improvements, approach work and other miscellaneous construction activities. 2016 work will conclude in late October. A winter hiatus will occur from November, 2016 through mid-February, 2017 before the next portion of the project resumes.
Motorists travelling in work area should allow extra time for their travel and expect possible congestion and delays.
